On 26-27 October, a unique eco project "Plastic is a resource, not a trash. Choose recycling!" will be held in the parking lot at the brewery of Lidskoe Pivo. The project is aimed at promotion of recycling and reuse of plastic.
The participants of the event may deliver empty plastic bottles and get branded souvenirs. The collected plastic will be delivered for recycling and JSC "Borisov plastic products plant" will manufacture benches, trash boxes, and flower pots that will be then placed in Lida. These items will symbolise the contribution of each city resident to the improvement of the environment and the city.
The project was supported by local enterprises, environmental organisations, and the administration of Lida. It is essential to raise awareness of recycling and proper waste segregation.
Plastic is not just a trash, but a resource that can be reused if processed properly. We wish to demonstrate that recycling serves to create useful items for the city and its residents to improve the quality life.
All participants handing over plastic bottles of water and beverages may get souvenirs. You may get an eco-friendly pen or a growing pencil for 5 plastic bottles, a microgreens kit for 10 bottles, and a handy eco-friendly shopper bag for 20 bottles.
All participants of the eco project may take part in environmental workshops. The citizens of Lida may learn more about proper waste segregation, recycling and reusing of plastic materials, and even create pictures using recycled plastic bags.
A pilot project in Lida marks the beginning of a long journey. It is planned to involve other Belarusian cities into the project to allow more people to take part in recycling and creation of useful items for the city.
