JSC «Lidskoe Pivo» has summed up the results of its work in the field of social responsibility. The priority direction of social work of the company is the social events promoting development of Belarusian traditions, preservation of historical heritage and expansion of its tourist and cultural potential. The largest projects of the company include the festival of hops, malt and water LIDBEER, the professional contest of bartenders LIDSKAE BEER MASTERS, switch to the Belarusian language to communicate with customers and publication of the book on history of brewing in Lida and preparation for publication of the second edition.
JSC «Lidskoe Pivo» has determined several directions of corporate social responsibility for itself. First of all, it is the support of national self-identification. The main aim of this direction is to support the national culture through popularization of the Belarusian language and historical heritage. Today LIDSKAE already speaks to its customers in Belarusian. The Belarusian language has appeared on the labels of brand products and in promotional materials of these products: in street advertisement, TV commercials and social media. JSC «Lidskoe Pivo» plans to further extend the use of the Belarusian language both for external communication and within the company.
In the near future, the company plans to conduct a «total dictation» in the Belarusian language. The aim of the event is to demonstrate that the knowledge of the Belarusian language and its correct use in written speech is important for every person.
In the direction of preservation of Belarusian historical heritage JSC «Lidskoe Pivo» carries out the extensive research activity, the aim of which is to preserve the history of brewing in Belarus as a layer of national culture. The large-scale work resulted in publication of the book «History of Lida Brewing: 1876-2012». The first edition is dedicated to the history of becoming and development of brewing in Lida.
The research work demonstrates that the potential of the theme of becoming and development of Belarusian brewing is fairly high. The materials for the second edition of the book are being actively gathered today. The specialists of the Lida Museum have studied the historical documents in the archives of Grodno, Minsk and Vilnius. When searching for new information, the archivists found the facts proving that the Lida brewing factory is the oldest in Belarus. In order to confirm this fact, the relevant expertise has been conducted by the highest academic authority of the Republic of Belarus in the field of history — The Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus. The resolution from the experts confirms that JSC «Lidksoe Pivo» with its history of over 140 years is the oldest brewing factory in action in the Republic of Belarus.
«On the basis of the given fragment of the archive document we can conclude that by 1893 the Frumkina’s brewing factory was no longer in action due to its bankruptcy. The new brewing factory was built on another land lot located diagonally from the area where the brewing factory of Rohlu Frumkina was located. Thus, the factory built by Karol Gutten-Chapski in the 1890s cannot be regarded as the successor to the Fumkina’s plant, as the production of beer by Karol Gutten-Chapski was carries out not at the factory purchased from Frumkina, which had ceased to exist by that time, but at a completely new plant which was built in another place. Of all facilities present within Rohla Frumkina’s brewing factory Chapski only used the stone malt house, in which he installed the ice storage room. Thus, the date of founding of the „Olivaria“ brewing production shall be associated with the beginning of functioning of Karol Gutten-Chapski’s brewing factory, not of Rohlu Frumkina’s factory», says Vyacheslav Danilovich, History PhD, Associate Professor and Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus.
The second activity of the company’s social activity is the development of drinking culture, change in the attitude towards beer as a drink to be consumed moderately, including in bars. The republican professional contest among bartenders, LIDSKAE BEER MASTER, which has already taken place this year, reflects this social goal. 127 bartenders took place in the large-scale event.
The LIDBEER Festival, which will take place for the third time this year, increases touristic and cultural attractiveness of the historical heritage of Lida. Holding the Festival within the Day of the City has become a tradition and a vivid example of cooperation between the public and the private. LIDBEER gathers thousands of tourists each year and emphasizes the status of Lida as the capital of brewing. This year, the Festival will be held on September 9th. JSC «Lidskoe Pivo» actively performs the preparatory works in order to provide the guests not only with festive mood, but with the best leisure conditions.
Today «Lidskoe Pivo», being the oldest brewing factory in action in Belarus, understands its important role in the promotion and strengthening of the Belarusian traditions. We realize that our activity in this field not only helps make the historical past more accessible, but also contributes to the development of the present and future of the country. Belarus has its unique culture: music, literature and monuments of architecture, and its unique nature. All this is a perfect basis for presentation in the world. With our projects we make our best contribution to this goal«, says Audris Mikshis, CEO of JSC «Lidskoe Pivo».
