For Lidskoe Pivo, environmental care is not just a word, but a priority in its every step. Lidskoe Pivo reduces the amount of plastic used, attempts to cut down emissions and to save resources, aiming at an even more green process. To this end, the company actively involves its consumers in actual environmental projects, demonstrating that it doesn't take much to start the change.
Minimum plastic: from production solutions to environmental campaigns
Plastic waste accumulation is one of the most pressing global environmental issues. Lidskoe Pivo gradually reduces volumes of plastic used and promotes recycling concepts both in production processes and in consumer interactions.
The company constantly seeks to optimize the packaging solutions applied at the production facility. For example, in 2024, preforms for PET bottles and bottle caps were made lighter, which made it possible for the company to cut down the volume of plastic used by 54 tons per year. It is a significant reduction of the environmental impact, considering that the company uses about 7 ths tons of plastic bottles to produce more than 355 mln. liters of drinks annually.
In addition to measures taken at the production facility, Lidskoe Pivo implements external initiatives. In July 2025, it held an event in Minsk as part of the environmental project "Plastic is not a waste, but a resource! Choose recycling." The participants in the event collected about 300 kg of plastic bottles, which will be upcycled.
It was a second event of the initiative held to draw people’s attention to recycling and importance of waste sorting. The first event had taken place in Lida in 2024; it was also met with a generous response.
Even minor actions, such as making packaging lighter or participation in environmental campaigns, can produce dramatic, positive results. Consumer support of ecoinitiatives makes them meaningful so that more people learn about the importance of recycling, and more companies are pushed towards positive changes in sustainable consumption and care for the future," noted the representatives of Lidskoe Pivo.
Lean culture: saving water and reducing carbon footprint
Lidskoe Pivo annually reduces CO2 emissions by making production more power efficient. The company optimizes the use of electricity, steam, and heat by implementing state-of-the-art resource-saving technologies. This approach is a part of the lean culture, followed by which the company in all its processes.
The company has significantly reduced resource consumption per liter of product: by 7.4% for power, by 39% for heat, by 29% for steam. Notably, absolute greenhouse gas emissions in tons were reduced by 9% (despite the production growth), which is an indicator that the company's environmental initiatives are efficient.
Beverage production consumes much water. However, Lidskoe Pivo actively invests not only in water quality improvement, but also in water treatment and reutilization projects. Thus, in 2024, water consumption was reduced from 3.12 liters to 2.87 liters per liter of product, i.e. by 8.7%.
Principles of the circular economy: bulk storage of sugar and prevention of packaging waste
In its production processes, Lidskoe Pivo actively implements the principles of a circular economy, where the company attempts to use resources as efficiently as possible, to prevent waste formation or to recycle any waste generated. There is a priority queue in the system: the best option is waste prevention, the second level is reuse, then recycling, as well as energy recovery, and disposal is the least preferred alternative.
Currently, the company is implementing a project for bulk storage of sugar and is already at the second level of the circular economy pyramid: for example, PP woven big bags, which were previously sent for recycling, are now transferred to other companies for reuse. This extends their service life and reduces waste. The company’s goal is to reach to the very top of the pyramid by eliminating packaging completely. The bulk sugar storage project will make it possible for the production facility to accept and store raw materials without bags or containers. This solution will not just reduce waste, but actually eliminate it at this stage of the production.
Lidskoe Pivo has seen for itself that even large-scale production can be committed to maximum environmental responsibility in its processes and significant reduction of ecological implications.
